India May Impose Cess on Natural Gas Produced in the Country - India Renewable Energy Consulting – Solar, Biomass, Wind, Cleantech

The government is considering a cess on natural gas produced in the country to finance the expansion of gas pipeline network. The proposed cess could be used for constructing 500 to 600 km of gas pipeline. If the cess was pegged at Rs.9 per one million British thermal units, Rs.3,000 crore could be generated annually through this method, adds the government.
