Until recently, there has been no special insurance premium for electric vehicle insurance, so you had to pay the same premiums that you paid for conventional vehicles.
In Jun 2019, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has notified the premium rates for private EV third-party liability insurance cover for the financial year 2019-20.
The EV insurance premium rates are a 15 percent discount compared to rates for general private cars of similar categories.
