Ather to expand, ride into four new cities - India Renewable Energy Consulting – Solar, Biomass, Wind, Cleantech

Ather Energy has been in limelight for almost two years now.

Geographically, it has focussed mostly on Bangalore, and it makes sense.

Recently, it also expanded its footprint to Chennai.

And even more recently, there has been news that the company plans to expand to four more cities in India.

For such expansion, one of the key questions will be that about Ather Grid – its electric vehicle charging system – whether the company has serious plans to invest in this grid in all these cities in the near term.

Another aspect to consider would be the timing. Would it be a better idea for Ather to first dominate the Bengaluru market, which is also its home base and where it has significant control, before moving on to other cities? Bengaluru is a large market with a significant proportion of population belonging to the target segment for Ather, so we at EV Next feel it might be a smarter idea for the company to explore ideas and strategies in its home market, hone its value propositions even better and then go big bang with them elsewhere in the country.
