During the ‘EARTH DAY’ 2011, NEC voluntarily conducted a “Art recycled” “Poster making” and “Earth Day Message” competition for its employees in India to create awareness on earth’s resources like trees, water, electricity and their conservation for future. In the contest, almost 100 employees participated and NEC’ CSR team awarded the winners with organic soaps.

  • Clean-up Activities in Seashores of Vietnam

Over 200 employees of NEC Tokin Electronics Vietnam Co Ltd cleaned the Phan Thiet Beach in Binh Thuan Province, Viet Nam by picking up all the wastes, present along a 1km stretch in 30 minutes.

  • In 2012, NEC Energy Devices (Wujiang) Co Ltd conducted a tree planting program especially for its new employees to have environmental awareness in the AGRIWORLD Park near Taihu area, China jointly with local park management organizations.

  • In co-ordination with the Chiangsu Fisheries Management Association, NEC’ Chinese division supported financially the release of fishes to eat sea weeds in local waters covering the Taihu area.

NEC carries out numerous eco friendly activities in Japan and voluntarily motivating its employees, their family members and NGOs to make contributions for conservation of native biodiversity, land remediation and eco-tourism. The corporate particularly concentrates on centers of its operation in Tokyo and others areas with rich vegetation.

  • Projects to Realize Nature for NEC Employees

NEC has started a project “NEC Rice Paddy Cultivation Project” in co-operation with the Asaza Fund, a nonprofit organization for its employees to have hands on experience in rice cultivation to rice wine brewing. The ultimate goal of this project is to make them feel the nature practically and preserve it using the IT and network technology possessed by NEC.

  • Educating Children in Orphanages about Organic Foods

Employees from Renesas NEC Semiconductors Sdn. Bhd in Malaysia worked with children at an orphanage to make vermi composting of organic wastes and later using it to grow organic vegetables. The harvested vegetables are used for the children’s meals.

  • Tree Planting Events in Taiwan

In order to make its employees in Taiwan familiarize with the CSR policy of NEC pertaining to environment, the Japanese corporate regularly conducts tree planting programs in the Zhuyuan Elementary School in Lucao Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. It is done in co-operation with the local government concerned.

  • NEC conducted a contest on environmental subjects to make its employees in India aware of precious energy and renewable sources on earth.
  • Employees of NEC undertook beach cleaning activities in Vietnam by hand picking the solid wastes along the coast.
  • NEC authourities have collaboratively worked with Chinese local bodies in park afforestation and control of weeds by sustainable methods.
  • NEC has made its employees to voluntarily clean up wastes and maintain lush green vegetation in areas, nearer to its head operational center in Tokyo.
  • NEC in alliance with an NGO has devised projects for it employees in rice cultivation to understand nature and guide them to apply their skills for eco-preservation.
  • NEC’ employees actively interacted with children in Malaysian orphanages to learn about composting and cultivation of organic vegetables.
