Rubber being a raw material, Bridgestone has adopted robust control measures in its processing like high-precision analysis of offensive odor components, development of odor-eliminating technologies, and deployment of deodorization systems (adsorption filters) at source and discharge points of its plants at Hitone and Tokyo, Japan to reduce the impacts of offensive odours in atmosphere.

Bridgestone Canada funds a local environment preservation group to protect a river near its plant in Joliette. The corporate’ financial aid is used for conducting surveys and formulating action plan for river conservation.

  • Workshop on Recycling for Kids, Spain

Bridgestone Hispania S.A.’s Burgos Plant in Spain conducted a workshop for 3Rs (Reuse Recycle Reuse) to assist children realize a recycling oriented society on Earth Day, 2011. During the workshop, they learnt about the process of recycling waste materials.

  • Eco-driving lessons for volunteers, China

Bridgestone (China) Investment Co. Ltd offers eco-driving lesson for voluntary participants in China to improve their skills and environment considerations while driving vehicles. In the end, participants are made to feel the differences in environmentally conscious driving and fuel economy.

  • Conservation Studies in a Lake, Japan

Employees and their families from Bridgestone’s Hikone Plant, Japan in co-operation with local residents conduct a biodiversity study at Lake Biwa. During the event in 2011, a total of 1000 participants including employees and school children took part in 13 nature field events for sustainable maintenance of the lake with integrity.

  • Conservation Efforts for the National Tree of Venezuela

Bridgestone Firestone Venezolana, C.A. (BFVZ) is supporting a program to protect Araguaney trees, the national tree of Venezuela. In cooperation with municipal government bodies, the company donates saplings to elementary schools and lends aid to efforts to protect Araguaney in the wild.

  • Environmental Education for American Children

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. created the Bridgestone Environmental Education Classroom & Habitat (BEECH) program through a partnership with environmental and community groups. In its plant at Warren County, Tennessee, BEECH helps to conduct classes at local elementary schools and holds field trips at a nature reserve, located within the grounds of the plant.

  • Appeal to German Public for Wildlife Conservation

Bridgestone Deutschland GMBH conducted a joint initiative with WWF Germany to promote environmental preservation in commemoration of the launch of fuel-efficient ECOPIA EP 150 tires in 2011.With an intention to preserve natural wildlife, Bridgestone Germany appeals to its tire customers to make contributions either to the Wildlife Fund through Bridgestone or to support other environmental preservation activities through WWF.

Bridgestone South Africa (PTY) Ltd (BSAF) supports a Cape Leopard Trust to preserve native mountain leopard and to focus on environmental education programs for children at the neighbor elementary schools.
