Welcome to another edition of the EAI newsletter. This is Madhavan, and it was nice to meet some of you at the International Renewable Energy Expo and Conference (VaVoVa) last week in Chennai. I hope that like us, you also gained valuable information by talking to the exhibitors and listening to the speakers at the conference. On the topic of conferences, the organizers of the 3rd Renewable Energy Conference, to be held in Hyderabad, have announced that the conference has been postponed to 24th February 2011. The theme of the conference is “Accelerating the solar economies in India”. EAI is the Research Partner for the event and we will send more details about the conference in our forthcoming newsletters. India Renewable Energy Updates
World Bank's IFC lends $300 Million for green energy
World Bank arm International Finance Corporation (IFC) has pledged $300 million for the development of renewable energy projects in India. The investment would be a mix of equity and debt over the next three years.
A quarter of the amount would be invested in the country's nascent solar energy sector while the rest would go to wind and biomass projects.
Venture Capital of Reliance ADA acquires stake in All green Energy
Reliance Venture Asset Management (RVAM), the venture capital arm of the Reliance ADA Group, is set to acquire a minority stake in AllGreen Energy Ltd. AllGreen has been established in the Indian renewable energy segment with the aim of erecting and managing biomass gasification power plants, from agricultural waste.
AllGreen says it is set to establish multiple biomass-based RE projects in India within the next 10 years. The deal size is learnt to be Rs 60-70 crore. NTPC to begin renewable energy generation in Tamil Nadu
Power generation major National Thermal Power Corporation is planning to generate around 600 mw of electricity using renewable energy resources in Tamil Nadu.
The PSU is aiming at generating 1,000 mw power under renewable energy mode and a major portion of it will be in Tamil Nadu, T Sankaralingam, chairman of NTPC, said here after holding talks with Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) officials on Friday. http://www.financialexpress.com/news/NTPC-to-begin-renewable-energy-generation-in-Tamil-Nadu/263461/
Tender News: India to award 1,300MW of solar tenders in 2011
India is to award contracts for solar arrays with a capacity of 1,300MW by the end of this year in a bid to improve the supply of electricity to remote rural areas, according to a government minister.
Denmark offers business bouquet to Bengal
Clean power is an area of core expertise for Denmark and Danish companies can collaborate with Bengal, particularly in helping set up wind farms and solar power systems.
