An interesting article on the potential and status of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) in India
What I found interesting were the following sentences: “OTEC is not commercialized because of this reason that the size of the supporting vessel and the size of the cold water pipe were very large. Now that with new OTEC power plant technology it is feasible to install the condenser in subsea. Foe example, a 100 MW OTEC power plant with installation could cost only 300 million USD.”
$3 million per MW isn’t exactly the cheapest, but it is indeed a lot lower than $6 million per MW that solar PV costs.
While methinks it is very early days for OTEC in India, at the same time there should be R&D money flowing in to make sure that this source is exploited at least a decade or so later.

of Ocean related branches and encouraged these Scientists to prepare Status Report on Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion ,depending upon the the latest reserch work done on that topic in developing countries. My Educational background being suitable for that and being M.Tech degree holder from I.I.Sc. Banglore he Giave responsibility of Conveyor for preparing the Status Report , For OTEC
