If you thought it was doom and gloom news all over the world when it comes to wind power installations (India’s capacity addition for 2012 is supposed to be just 1500 MW as against the expected 3000+ MW!), there is some news to cheer, and from unexpected quarters – offshore wind.

A recent report says offshore wind power capacity in Europe has grown by 50% this year compared to last. OK, 50% over a relatively small base might not be really a lot (523 MW vs 348 MW), but actually on second thoughts, 523 MW of offshore is not a small amount.

Some good news in wind for all of us to cheer!
