Introduction

Tata power provides EV charging infrastructure and Storage devices as Electric Mobility is gaining its importance in India. Tata Power established the first public Electric Vehicle charging stations in Mumbai -Making Mumbai EV ready.

Company Profile

Tata Power Limited is an Indian electric utility company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India and is part of the Tata Group. The core business of the company is to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. With an installed electricity generation capacity of 10,577 MW, it is India’s largest integrated power company. Tata Power has been ranked 3rd in 2017. Responsible Business Rankings developed by IIM Udaipur. In February 2017, Tata Power became the first Indian company to ship over 1 GW of solar modules.

Product Profile

  • Tata power manufactures and operates EV charging stations. 
  • They also aim to provide the electricity to the stations and the software application for the customers to use the charging station. 

Future Plans

  • Tata Power is planning to increase its network of electric vehicle charging stations to 700 by 2021.
  • The company has already installed 100 fast charging stations in various cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, which it plans to take to 300 by March 2020.
  • The company is already in talks with metro rail authorities and municipal corporations for setting up EV charging stations. Besides, it will set up charging stations at Tata Group owned outlets such as Chroma, WestSide, Titan watch showroom, and Indian Hotels, among others.
  • In Mumbai, the company has already set up 30 stations as of August 2019, which it expects to increase to 200 by next year. The company is planning to also include installing charging stations that will adhere to 30-50 kW standards as demand grows in addition to  the standard 15 kW stations.

Partnerships

  • Tata Motors partnered Tata Power in August 2019 to install 300 EV charging stations for electric vehicles across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad by end FY20.
  • Tata Power has also signed MoUs for setting up commercial EV charging stations at HPCL, IOCL, and IGL retail outlets
  • Prakriti E- Mobility has signed an agreement with Tata Power in February 2020, to provide charging infrastructure for Prakriti’s EV Taxi fleet in Delhi NCR. Prakriti E-Mobility is an app-based Electric Vehicle (EV) taxi service provider.
