BLive expands partnership with Zomato to offer premium EVs for delivery fleet

Logistics | Electric Mobility | Business Model

BLive is providing Zomato's delivery personnel with premium electric scooters (TVS iQube) through a rent-to-own model, allowing them to eventually own the vehicle after a rental period (3+ years). This partnership aims to achieve Zomato's "EV100" initiative of 100% electric vehicle deliveries by 2033 and encourage wider adoption of electric mobility in India's booming online commerce sector.

Notes

Interesting model, allowing Zomato to go electric almost immediately without having to put up a huge capex upfront. The so-called opex model has made significant contributions to the rooftop solar sector in India, perhaps a similar business model can get many firms with significant logistics operations to go electric.
