ONGC and NTPC sign joint venture agreement to set up offshore wind energy projects

Power | Wind Power | Partnership and Collaboration

India's biggest oil producer ONGC and power company NTPC signed a joint venture agreement to develop offshore wind energy projects. The pact also explores opportunities in storage, e-mobility, and green hydrogen. ONGC aims to add 10 GW of renewable power to its portfolio by 2040.

Notes

India might not have the best regime for offshore wind in the world (there are quite a few other regions around Europe and USA, and even some around South China that are much better), but offshore wind could have good long-term potential given the long coastline that India has - about 7500 Kms!

ONGC, with its expertise in offshore operations, can add significant value for offshore wind projects.
