The Delhi government will promote energy efficient buildings with white roof and CFL bulbs. Fittingly enough, the work will start from the secretariat.

The plan involves building “cool roofs”, roofs that are painted white. It was finalised at a meeting between Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and officials of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

White roofs result in decreasing the roof temperature, thus saving electricity.
