3M’s solar reflective coating reduces AC energy consumption

Showcased at EAI INCLINE – https://lnkd.in/gZK-B7y

Coating reduces heat inside enclosures; reduces AC energy by 20%

3M India’s R&D team developed a first-of-its kind solution- 3M Scotchkote Polytech Exp RG700. This is a solar reflective coating which reduces heat inside any enclosure and can be applied on various metallic and non-metallic substrates.

In trials, when this was applied on the roofs of AC coaches of Indian Railways, it was found to reduce AC energy consumption by 20%, a fairly impressive number given that ACs consume gobs of energy (running a home AC for an hour consumes energy equal to having 5-10 LED lights on for the whole day!).

3M has been globally known for its

Innovation DNA and we look forward to more such innovations from its Indian arm as well.

EAI INCLINE congratulates 3M India’s research team on this effective innovation.
