Solar desalination: Carlsberg to purify Sundarbans water using solar energy

Showcased at EAI INCLINE – https://lnkd.in/gZK-B7y

Carlsberg Group recently partnered with

solardesalination technology company Desolenator for converting saline water into clean drinking water for a town of 4,000 in Sundarbans, West Bengal. (Read more: https://lnkd.in/gqt6Mgk )

Sundarbans, home to around 4.7 million people, is surrounded by saltwater. In addition to COVID, the region is also suffering the immediate consequences of rising sea levels due to

climatechange.

Desal consumes high amounts of energy. Low-carbon

desal could be a powerful solution for a future world in which (even more) wars are expected to be fought over water.

While this innovation is not Indian, let’s hope we can learn enough from this tech & its inventors to make more affordable, solar based desalination adapted for India.

EAI INCLINE wishes Desolenator & Carlsberg all the best!
