CLIMAFIX Delegate Talk – Pramodh Panchanadam

Climafix Summit 2023 (Sep 22 & 23 at IIT Madras Research Park) will have the largest number of climate innovation stakeholders from all over India, all at one place.

In order to get a piece of mind of folks who would be there, we have the CLIMAFIX Delegate Talk series.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘬? It’s simple. We ask delegates/experts planning to attend CLIMAFIX Summit a question. In fact, they can choose one of the half dozen questions we have for them. And then they provide a short answer.

We have here Pramodh Panchanadam of A P Advisory BV, a renewable energy industry veteran, with over two decades of hands on engineering experience in designing and implementing a spectrum of renewable energy solutions.

The question he has chosen to answer:

𝐐𝐧: 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲?

𝐀𝐧𝐬: This will depend on the domain being considered.

In mature domains such as solar PV, policy will drive implementation, while in nascent domains such as green hydrogen, both policy and technology innovations could be equally important to drive solution maturity and scale. In very nascent sectors such as third generation biofuels or nuclear fusion, technology innovation needs to drive the domain to a level when policy levers start mattering.

Team CLIMAFIX thanks Pramodh for this valuable answer & insights.

CLIMAFIX Summit 2023 is organized by Energy Alternatives India & THE ENERGY CONSORTIUM – IIT MADRAS at IITM Research Park, Sep 22 & 23, 2023.
