While the role of batteries in reducing peak demand charges is indeed significant, I wonder how the economics works when the levelized cost of electricity – which also includes the high cost of batteries – is taken into account. Sure, Li-ion battery costs have crashed almost 90% from 2010 – 2020, but they are still high for grid scale operations and use.
