He especially dwelt on the need for engineering students to look beyond software programming opportunities and look at the world of cleantech for opportunities in solar, wind, biofuels, energy auditing and green buildings, and also gave specific examples diverse engineering where professionals known to him had started working on cleantech domains:

1. A chemical engineer who had joined Reliance in its efforts in algae biofuels division

2. An electronics engineer who had started his research in solar PV at IIT Bombay

3. An electrical engineer who had started his own energy auditing business

4. A construction engineer who had joined a green buildings firm
