Accelerating Rooftop Solar – what should be done? – Today’s CLIDEMY Poll

In India, and many other similar economies, while large, ground-mounted solar power plants are being deployed on scale, distributed solar power on rooftops is going really slow in terms of adoption.

In India, for instance, while ground mounted solar power plants have grown to over 50 GW in capacity by end of 2022 (against a target of about 60 GW), rooftop solar had less than 10 GW (against a target of 40 GW)

Rooftop solar adoption is doing much better in some high income economies such as USA, parts of Europe, Japan, Australia etc.

The beauty of solar power is that it is a wonderful distributed source of energy! So, there should be a lot more of rooftop solar in many countries.
