Conference on Renewable Energy in Tamil Nadu

Introduction:

Ever increasing demand for energy particularly electricity production has led to substantial greenhouse gas emission into the atmosphere with the resultant global warming and the climate change adversities. The Government of Tamil Nadu, towards its commitment to mitigate climate change effect, meeting the increasing energy requirements and thus develop its infrastructure through a low carbon pathway, has initiated number of policy measures in the state.

Renewable energy options like solar and wind power offers huge potential for power generation that would entail less dependence on fossil fuels and associated benefits. While Tamil Nadu already has significant experience with the generation and transmission of renewable energy, there are concerns relating to speedy deployment of renewable energy.

In order to discuss the above and the related issues in regards to large scale capacity augmentation of solar and wind power in the state, ASSOCHAM is organizing a Conference on “Renewable Energy in Tamil Nadu – Speedy deployment of solar and wind power” to be held on 20th March 2014 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
