I was going through a Wikipedia article on Solar Power in India that said, “a 35,000 km² area of the Thar Desert has been set aside for solar power projects, sufficient to generate 700 to 2,100 gigawatts.”

That’s interesting! 2100 GW = 2.1 million MW, more than the entire installed capacity from all sources (about 1,50,000 MW in 2007). Wonder what the status of this Thar Desert project is…
