ABB Substations for Hydro-power to Uttarakhand - India Renewable Energy Consulting – Solar, Biomass, Wind, Cleantech

Power Transmission Corp. of Uttarakhand Ltd. has awarded a US$34 million contract to ABB of Switzerland for substations to strengthen the transmission system of India’s hydro-rich Uttarakhand State.

ABB is set to design, supply, install, and commission three substations rated at 132 kilovolts, 220 kV, and 400 kV, as well as transformers and other major power equipment. ABB received a contract earlier this year to supply transformers for a major hydroelectric project being built in Uttarakhand, 520-MW Tapovan Vishnugad on the Dhauliganga River.

Other major hydro development is under way across Uttarakhand, with recent project work including 171-MW Lata Tapovan, 444-MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti, 56-MW Naitwar Mori, the three-project 2,400-MW Tehri complex, and many small hydro projects.
