Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency is Likely to Get Rs 10,000cr for Generating More Power - India Renewable Energy Consulting – Solar, Biomass, Wind, Cleantech

According to statistics provided by the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, total installed capacity of renewable power is 14,366 MW which is about nine per cent of the total installed power generation capacity. This comprises mainly of wind power of about 10,330 MW, small hydro power of about 2,450 MW and bio power of about 1,900 MW. Energy demand supply gap is of eight per cent with peak shortages to the extent of 11-12 per cent and grid access is yet to be provided to over 56 per cent of the rural households.

Realizing the need for the energy, the union ministry has considered a proposal to ask for increasing the funding to the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore.
