Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd. (KREDL) currently generates about 1500 MW of wind energy against the target of 9,000 MW. The government gave permissions to 55 private companies who demanded approval for setting up wind mills. But the companies failed to adhere to the norms and failed to set up windmills even after a decade and so the permissions were cancelled.
