Alstom grants Euros 90K to Husk Power Systems Project for a Dry Gasifier project


Alstom disbursed a Euro 90K grant to a husk power systems project which aims to minimize water usage by over 80% and save 150,000 tons of CO2 by 2014. Alstom, as part of its commitment towards social responsibility announced launch of Dry Gasifier project in India in collaboration with Husk Power Systems(HPS) -USA, one of the world's lowest cost providers of biomass based renewable energy equipment.

Coal India has signed FSA with around 18 power plants: Government


The government said Coal India has so far signed pacts with 18 power plants for supply of the fuel, amid electricity producers' reservations about certain clauses of the fuel supply agreement. "The fuel supply agreements have been signed with around 18 power plants," Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal told reporters.

The government is now considering a proposal to provide subsidy for hotels, chicken stalls, hospitals, private schools, and other institutions also for setting up independent waste-processing plants on their premises.

BEE to add more products under energy saving norms


The Bureau of Energy Efficiency plans to add more products under the mandatory energy efficiency labelling drive bringing in water heaters, direct cool refrigerators and television sets. Bananas are a staple crop of Rwanda. The fruit is eaten raw, fried and baked — it even produces banana beer and wine.
