BioBiza division of EAI, is a leading market intelligence & strategic consulting firm for the Indian bio-based sectors.

This blog post uses the terms bio-CNG and renewable natural gas (RNG) interchangeably.

Bio-CNG or bio-compressed natural gas, also known as sustainable natural gas or biomethane, is a biogas which has been upgraded to a quality similar to fossil natural gas and having a methane concentration of 90% or greater. As the gas is derived from natural and renewable sources, it is also termed renewable natural gas (RNG).

Bio-CNG or RNG is expected to be a potential replacement for conventional natural gas (CNG and PNG) in India. With this scenario, while one would expect the natural gas market and its infrastructure to be a potent competitor for the emerging RNG market, industry experts say that RNG could also be promoted by leading natural gas industry players themselves owing to increasing trend towards greener fuels and regulatory measures to reduce carbon emissions.

Thus for early movers, it would be beneficial to have an understanding of these major players for business partnerships.

This blog post provides details on key players in the CNG and PNG market with their supply capacity/revenue.
