Introduction

Bajaj Auto manufactures and sells motorcycles, scooters and auto rickshaws. The company has also recently entered four wheelers (cars) segment. The company has manufacturing plants in Chakan (Pune), Waluj (near Aurangabad) and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. 

Company Profile

The Bajaj Group is amongst the top 10 business houses in India. Its footprint stretches over a wide range of industries, spanning automobiles (two wheelers and three wheelers manufacturer), home appliances, lighting, iron and steel, insurance, travel and finance. The group’s flagship company, Bajaj Auto, is ranked as the world’s fourth largest three and two wheeler manufacturer and the Bajaj brand is well-known across several countries in Latin America, Africa, Middle East, South and SouthEast Asia. 

Product Profile

The company launched their first electric scooter – Chetak electric, after their humongously successful moped chetak. It was launched on 12 January, 2020 and offers sales through only select outlets of KTM motors in Bangalore and Pune 

Future Plans

  • Bajaj Auto displayed its electric auto at the Move summit in 2018 but was not made commercial.
  • In January 2020, the company was spotted road-testing its auto.

Partnerships

  • In November 2019, Pune-based automobile company Bajaj Auto invested $8 Mn in electric vehicle startup Yulu. At the time, the company had announced that Yulu will source electric two-wheelers from Bajaj, which have been co-designed and manufactured for shared micro-mobility. Bajaj Auto will use its local expertise to offer a more affordable alternative to Yulu against Chinese electric two-wheelers

Global Work

The company has a global presence with exports to 70 countries and a 49% share in KTM.
